    Hi there! I heard at rumor that Walt Disney World is cashless. Can you confirm if in October 2024 guests can use cash to shop at various stores, kiosks and restaurants at the Disney World Resort? Thanks!

    I'm so glad to see fellow Canucks coming to official resources like planDisney for their information, since we not only work directly with Cast Members to get their approved information from the source but also take into account what we observe through the guest experience during our in-park visits and research. With a lot of misinformation that seems to swirl about on the internet, I'm happy to help dispel any rumors and worries ahead of your next visit:

    • It's important to note that there may also be select vendors from time to time that may not be equipped to readily take cash (you'll generally find these to be mobile carts that might sell bubble wands, light-up necklaces or things that glow) and arcades will currently require you to purchase a reloadable Game Card in lieu of inserting coins directly.

    Many folks and families coming from Canada opt to purchase Disney Gift Cards to use during their trip as a versatile way to pay for things during their vacations here, especially if they first use it when there's an advantageous exchange rate (all while avoiding foreign transaction fees incurred depending on the kinds of payment cards they have). For anyone traveling internationally for their Walt Disney World Resort vacation, I personally wouldn't recommend exchanging cash to American currency while you're here and especially not anywhere with exorbitant exchange fees like at the airport.
