Hi Tami,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. Yum, yum,
yum – I can still taste the hot and delicious beignets from
Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter.
The tasty, magical little pillows are sprinkled with the most perfect icing sugar pixie dust and come with your choice of dipping sauces (my favorite is the chocolate chicory, though I hear it's extra good if you alternate between chocolate chicory and raspberry). I did a little research, and am happy to report that gluten-free beignets are available throughout the day, which means you’ll need to have them for breakfast one day and as a sundae for dessert the next (or on the
same day…I don’t judge, and calories don’t count at Disney).
Tami, did you know that the
Special Diets team at Walt Disney World is happy to help you plan your vacation meals? Just send an email to Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com or give them a call at (407) 939-3463 (this is the Reservations phone number, but you can reach them this way, as well as being able to add a note about any food allergies to your Advanced Dining Reservations). At dining locations, you are welcome to request the allergy-friendly menu.
Enjoy the beignets and be sure to take some time to wander around Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory, as well as the themed area just outside. I love all the nods to The Princess and the Frog, and it always makes me sing, “grab your paintbrush, we’re painting the town – dreams do come true in New Orleans!”
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
