Hi! Just heard about the 'pick a pearl' in Japan at World Showcase. How does this work?? TIA

    Hi Susan!

The "Pick-A-Pearl" stand in the Japan Pavilion is a lot of fun, and a great place to get a memorable souvenir from your trip! You basically pay to pick an oyster out of a large tank which one of the castmembers will shuck for you. You get to keep the pearl that is inside the oyster - and sometimes there is more than one pearl! After you see what kind of pearl is in your oyster, you can choose to have it set in a pieces of jewelry like a necklace, ring or earrings. If you would rather not have it set, you can just take it home and keep it as a memento or save it for a future piece of jewelry.

There are several "Pick-A-Pearl" locations around Disney World, but I think the one in Japan is the best. They really make a big deal out of each and every pearl that is picked by banging drums and making it a memorable event.

    Have fun!!
