12/17-12/13Heard of people upgrade when arrive(ex:AKL reg.toSavannah), possible to UG to better hotel-from Movies? Worried abt crowds-better to visit during MH (more pep but longer hrs) vs. other park may not as full Last?:anywhere to get times guide early

    Hi Brandy,

Upgrades within Disney resorts are fairly common.  My family was delighted to be upgraded at no added cost to a more expensive room during our last vacation.  We didn't even have to request the upgrade.  It was a lovely surprise.  However, in my several decades of travel to Walt Disney World, I have only ever heard of an upgrade to a different resort once.  The switch was necessitated by construction taking place at the original resort so it was a highly unusual circumstance.  I wouldn't anticipate this kind of upgrade on your upcoming trip.  Of course, it never hurts to ask at the check-in desk.

I wouldn't worry too much about crowds during your visit next week.  Crowds should be at moderate levels in the Disney theme parks until the week after your visit.  If you're an early riser or a night owl, I suggest you visit the theme parks that are offering Extra Magic Hours.  These are great times to enjoy attractions with shorter wait times.  If you don't anticipate visiting during Extra Magic Hours then it makes sense to choose a park without Extra Magic Hours on the schedule for the day.

The Times Guides available for each of the Disney theme parks are printed only one week at a time.  It isn't really possible to see them in advance.  However, you could call Guest Services at Disney's All Star Movies Resort to ask when certain activities are running this week.  Chances are good that the schedule will not change dramatically from one week to the next, although it could happen.  You could also check sites like allears.net for a listing of times and events.

Thanks for a great, incredibly detailed question, Brandy!

    Have fun next week.
