I heard there are no longer “standard” rooms located in the 60s section (buildings 4 and 5) at Pop Century. Is this true? We have a standard room booked for late summer and under room requests on the app, I am able to select 60s so now I am confused.

    Howdy Alyssa,

Welcome to planDisney! You are going to love staying at Disney’s Pop Century Resort during your next Walt Disney World visit. The theming at this resort will give you the chance to experience all of the decades from the 1950s through the 1990s again in a very big way. It’s a beautiful resort with recently updated rooms and a refurbished lobby and food court. I can’t wait for you to experience the magic this resort has to offer.

I chatted with a cast member today and she confirmed that there are a few standard rooms in the ‘60s section. While the majority of the rooms in this section will be preferred due to the proximity to resort transportation (the Disney Skyliner and buses) and Classic Hall where the resort dining hall and check-in are, there are a few rooms in the standard category available here. This section is also the closest to the resort’s main pool, the Hippy Dippy Pool. It’s a great location, so I am glad that you’re adding a request for this section to your mobile check-in within your My Disney Experience app. Just know that room requests are not guaranteed, but cast members will do what they can to honor them on a first-come, first-served basis.

While you’re staying at Pop Century, don’t forget to check out the resort’s Activities Schedule. You can find them posted near Classic Hall and the Hippy Dippy Pool, or online on the resort’s recreation page before you arrive. For meals, you’ll have access to Everything Pop inside Classic Hall and the Petals Pool Bar near the Hippy Dippy Pool. You can also head over to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort via the walking bridge over Hourglass Lake (where the Skyliner is) to check out what they have to offer at Landscape of Flavors or the Drop Off Pool Bar. If these options don't meet your needs, hop on the Skyliner and visit Disney’s Riviera or Caribbean Beach Resorts to check out their offerings as well.

I hope this information is helpful, Alyssa. If you need any additional help with planning, stop by planDisney and let us know. We’ll see ya real soon!
