I've heard that motorized boat rentals are no longer available at Port Orleans - Riverside. Is it still possible to rent one at Downtown Disney? We'd picked POR specifically so that we could rent a boat on the Sassagoula River. :-(

    Hello David!

Unfortunately, you are correct.  Motorized boat rentals are no longer available at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside.  In addition, Cap'n Jack's Marina in Downtown Disney is also closed to make way for the New Downtown Disney development called Disney Springs.  I recommend that you make your way to any of the following resorts to rent watercraft.
    • Disney's Polynesian Resort
    • Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Marina
    • Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
    • Disney's Wilderness Lodge
    • Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
    • Disney's Contemporary Resort

You might consider popping on over to any of those resorts for a midday break during a park day at Epcot Theme Park or Magic Kingdom Park!  They are easily accessible using Disney transportation.

I wish you a truly magical vacation.
