Hello Tressa, and welcome to planDisney!
I'm so excited that YOU are excited about planning for a Walt Disney World Resort vacation! I remember opening the mailbox and running inside to put the planning DVD (or GASP VHS tape) in to see what magical things awaited my family. I may have even requested a few before when I was younger, too...sorry, Mom & Dad!
Unfortunately, that experience is no longer available, and the physical DVDs are no longer available - it's a real Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress moment! But don't despair! Part of that progress is a wealth of
videos,
pocket guides,
quick tips, and other information right at your fingertips; both right here at
planDisney and at the
DisneyParks Blog and beyond! While you're learning about
all the fun that awaits at Walt Disney World Resort, be sure to look West to
Disneyland Resort, see how you can make Disney Vacations a bigger part of your plans with
Disney Vacation Club, and keep an eye on the line where the sky meets the sea on
Disney Cruise Line!
When it comes to Walt Disney World Resort, however, I'm a firm believer in letting your conscience be your guide, but if you would like a few planDrew-approved tips to point you in the right direction as you dive into the links above, here's my top 3:
- Remember to think about transportation! Resort Transportation is a wonderful part of any stay! From Disney Skyliner, to Walt Disney World Monorail Transportation, Bus Transportation, and - my personal favorite - water transportation options, getting around can be a fun and exciting part of your vacation in itself!
- Be sure to compare Walt Disney World Resort Collection hotels of every type - there's really a perfect resort for every trip and while a Deluxe Resort may be perfect for one stay, a Value Resort could fit another even better! I'm planning my family's first stay at Disney's Pop Century Resort, and can't wait to have the Disney Skyliner just steps away!
- Breathe! It can get overwhelming trying to plan everything to be sure you "do it right," but some of our favorite vacations have been those where we gave ourselves plenty of time to relax and remember why we came: to experience the Magic of Disney together as a family. As long as you do that, it's all worth it!
Well Tressa, I hope that gives you a window into the next part of your planning! I can't wait for your dream Disney Vacation to come into focus - it's always so exciting!
Thank you for your question, and if you find yourself needing a bit more direction, please send another message our way at planDisney!
