I've heard that even though the free magic band has been discontinued, there is a way to get a discounted magic band with a resort reservation. I can't find that option, and would that offer be affected by our DVC reservation?

Hey there, Alexundria! Welcome to planDisney!

Aren’t MagicBands the perfect accessory on a Walt Disney World Resort vacation? Snapping that magical band around my wrist signals the start of the magic, and I just love the convenience of using the band to open my resort room door, enter theme parks, pay for merchandise, and so much more!

It’s true that MagicBands are no longer complimentary for Walt Disney World Resort Guests, and that discounted MagicBands are available to purchase for registered Guests. You’ll need to log in to your My Disney Experience app and check to make sure your resort hotel reservation is linked to all Guests on the reservation. Under your room reservation, scroll down to “Choose MagicBands,” and follow the steps to select MagicBands for each Guest.

If yours is a Disney Vacation Club reservation, you might have to select your Magic Bands by navigating to “My Profile” and then “MagicBands & Cards.” You’ll see “Your New MagicBands” – tapping that will take you to the screens for selecting your MagicBands. If you’ve tried through both “Room Reservation” and “My Profile” and still can’t see the MagicBand option, I recommend calling the My Disney Experience team at (407) 939-4357.

I hope this helps you get your MagicBands selected, moving you one step closer to your Walt Disney World Resort vacation. As part of the phased reopening, some experiences may look and feel different than past visits, so I recommend reading the Know Before You Go information as well as the Disney Parks Blog as you plan and dream. For example, while you might have used a MagicBand to pay for food purchases at Quick Service dining locations in the past, these days mobile ordering is encouraged for health, safety, and convenience reasons. As a resort Guest, your meal is still charged to your room – you just get to bypass touching anything extra! Bibbidi bobbidi boo, am I right?

Thanks for stopping by planDisney, Alexundria! Please visit us again if you have any more questions as you count down the days.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
