    I heard that you can get discounts on merchandise in the parks when you use the Disney Rewards card. Is this true? Do you get a discount if you use earned Disney reward dollars from the card?

    Hi Carrie!

    It is true at some locations throughout Walt Disney World.  I'm a charter member and this has been a good change to the benefits.  For many years, it used to be true for only the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney, but the discount is now available in more and more places.  For example, it's true in the Emporium in the Magic Kingdom.  You can even get a discount off of select tours at Walt Disney World by showing your Disney Visa card.  Thus I recommend asking whenever you want to buy something!  That's also true if you have an Annual Pass or a DVC membership, etc; always ask if there are any discounts! 

    Based on my experiences, the Disney reward dollars are used using something more akin to a gift card than a credit card.  I've never received a discount when using my Disney reward dollars.
