I heard that there is a better chance of reserving more popular dining within 60 days of visiting WDW because a lot of guests cancel or reschedule dining reservations to work around Fast Pass+ selections. Is that true?

    Hi Donna,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am delighted to discuss dining reservations.

There have been times when I have missed the beginning of the 180-day dining reservation booking window. Generally, I have been able to make a reservation at popular restaurants even if I have missed the very early booking time, but not always. When making dining reservations for a friend recently, I was able to snag a few times at Be Our Guest restaurant in Magic Kingdom, but none of those reservations were for ideal times. I managed to get a 9:20 p.m. then a 9:15 p.m. then a 4:05 p.m. We kept the 4:05 p.m. time and cancelled the others.

While there may be dining times that open up 60 days prior to your trip, my experience has been that times open up sporadically.  Popular restaurants are often difficult to reserve or not available at all. I would check every day if you have time. When I once decided to try to book a reservation at Cinderella's Royal Table a few months in advance, I literally sat on my iPad hitting "Search Times" for hours until a time appeared. Now, I make sure I am online and making reservations as soon as the booking window opens. I have also snagged an early morning reservation at The Crystal Palace during the week we were on vacation. We ate there once and decided we wanted to eat there again on our last day. Luckily, a time opened up the day I checked.

So Donna, there is hope. Just keep trying!

Magic, Memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
