I heard there is an additional fee for premium rides. Is this true?

    Hey there, Yew Choo!

Welcome to planDisney and I'm glad that you came to us because your visit to the Disneyland Resort is only a few days away! Are you all set with your Theme Park Tickets and reservations for the parks and dining? If you have questions, you've certainly come to the right place!

First of all, I'm happy to report that your ticket entitles you to experience all the attractions at the Park to which you've purchased admission (or both Parks if you bought a Park Hopper!). All attractions will typically have a standby queue, so there is no extra fee to pay if you do choose to utilize the standby line.

I suspect that you were hearing about Genie+ and/or Individual Lightning Lanes. Genie+ is a paid service that will give you access to Lightning Lane entrances at participating attractions. These are lines that will bypass most of the standby queue area and therefore get you to the front of the line faster. If you have a limited amount of time during your visit or just want to experience as much as possible in a day, I would definitely recommend purchasing Genie+! In addition, all Disney PhotoPass downloads are included with the purchase of Genie+ for that day, so even more value for the price.

Individual Lightning Lanes are not included with Genie+ and are used for highly demanded attractions. These are individually purchased Lightning Lanes that are still available to you without having Genie+. Currently, these include Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland Park and Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure. However, you are more than welcome to utilize the normal standby queue for these attractions as well, free of any additional charge.

Fun Fact: Even though the DOLE Whip is served at the Dole Plantation on Oahu, it first appeared in Walt Disney World in 1984 and then the Disneyland Resort in 1986. It was created in San Jose by a food scientist who was trying to make a non-dairy pineapple dessert that would survive the Florida heat. It's become one of the most popular snacks at the Parks and there's even a National DOLE Whip Day every year!

Yew Choo, I hope that this was helpful and informative for you. Please return again anytime you have more questions because we'd love to see you again! You're always welcome at planDisney!

Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
