We are heading to the "world" at Epct. during our stay at WDW in Sept. I would love to give my kids a little study of the places they will experience at Epct. It would make it fun and rich with Educa. value. Does WDW have books on these lands?

What a fabulous idea to enrich your kids with study of the Epcot World Showcase countries. For a book, you may want to check out “Vacation Education Destination Epcot”.

Our son enjoyed traveling around the “world”, in each country he had a Cast Member write Nicolas in their native language inside his Passport. These can be purchased in the Epcot stores or you can make your own to bring along on your journey. The passport kit contains 11 sheets of stickers, an Epcot button, passport and pouch.  Cast Members wrote the date and time of entry, a message and stamped the booklet. Note: this is not just for children. I’ve seen many adults participating as well. Upon our departure from the country, our son would sit and place the photo stickers in his booklet to reflect his visit there.

While at the KidCot stations, we had some delightful conversations with the Cast Members about their homelands. It’s fun for the kids to collect the charms from different countries to add to their masks. For instance, in Norway there is a Viking ship charm to decorate and then add to the mask.

For the last couple of years, I’ve been using Epcot as a learning tool and including our Epcot plans in our Excusal from Attendance form before submitting it to the school.

World Showcase is truly a wonderful place to celebrate other cultures. Opportunities to learn in fun ways are available each day via conversations with people from the different countries, films, shows and exhibits. Simply walking through the store at Morocco (or other countries) will give everyone a glimpse of far-away cultures. One year we took a photo of  our son trying on a hat in each country. He really enjoyed all the different types of hats.

There are so many different ways to enjoy World Showcase. For example, you can enjoy the music in Japan, Wonders of China movie and dining in Italy. Each visit can be a different adventure.
