Heading to WDW in Sept.2013 staying at ASMusic resort with quick service meal plan. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for the best way to experience WDW as a mom with 2 kids, 8 and 6?

    Hi Lisa!

I absolutely love visiting Walt Disney World in September. The weather is awesome and the crowd levels are much more reasonable than what you may experience during peak seasons of the year.

I've got a few ideas to throw out as you work on your vacation plans:

    1) Let everyone pick 2-3 "must-do's" for each day of the vacation. So, all three of you (yes, you too!) should make a list of 2-3 attractions, shows, parades, or other experiences that you'd like to see. That way, everyone gets a say and the chance to be a part of each other's interests. Once the day's list has been taken care of, the spontaneous adventures you encounter can be savored without having to worry about keeping on a schedule.

    2) See if you can budget some time to go back to your resort hotel's pool for a mid-day break. It'll give you a chance to kick your feet up and recharge your batteries while your children can still be playing and having fun.

    3) Be mindful of hunger! You all will be expending a lot of energy each day and may find yourselves needing to pack in more calories than you typically do. Remember...a hungry child is a cranky child. There are a ton of healthy snack options available around the theme parks and resorts that can help your children stay chipper throughout the day.

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

Consider investing in affordable cameras for each of your children to take with them. When my niece was younger, I'd give her one of my old digital cameras to tote around when we'd take her to Walt Disney World. It was so cool to see the pictures she took because it gave me a glimpse into the moments and experiences that she wanted to preserve for her memory.

I hope that helps to get the wheels turning. If you want to write back with more questions, I'd love to share more ideas and help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
