We are heading to WDW on Saturday and are attending the Star Wars Dessert Party on July 12th. Party time is listed as 8:30 p.m. How early should we arrive to check in? Any other tips?

Hi Melissa, and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I love seeing that you have trusted us over the years with your planning questions, and, on behalf of all the Panelists, thank you for coming back to us again!

Melissa, my family recently attended the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party, and we had an absolute blast. We arrived right when the party began, and we felt that we had lots of time to enjoy the party before heading out to the fireworks, but I’ve heard that Cast Members may let Guests in about 30 minutes before the official start time. While there are no guarantees, I recommend stopping by the check-in station right in front of Star Wars Launch Bay at around 8:00 p.m. and politely asking if you’ll be able to go in a little early.

My strategy was to stop for desserts first, then wander the Launch Bay a bit (we had plenty of time to meet all the characters - we even met Kylo Ren twice), and then head back to the dessert area for some sweet seconds. My must-tries were the lemon BB-8 cupcake and the Light Speed Margarita. If you'd like, you can grab a can of soda to take out to the viewing area, and they were also handing out bottled water, which we very much appreciated.

For character interactions, we wore themed shirts and accessories that demonstrated our galactic allegiances. My son was wearing a Dark Side t-shirt and Chewbacca gave him quite the hard time - it was super cute and so funny.

Melissa, the Cast Members at the event are really wonderful, so be sure to ask them for anything you need. A Cast Member from Naboo took some fabulous photos of my whole family together that are some of our favorites from the whole vacation.

Enjoy the delicious desserts and amazing viewing area, and may the Force be with you!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
