Hi, there!
Welcome to planDisney, Mary Lou. I'm so happy you stopped by and even happier to hear you're planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation! It's the very best kind, if you ask me.
I'm a big fan of the
dining plans available to Guests of the Disney Resorts Collection. As a busy mom of three, I appreciate the convenience and flexibility a dining plan adds to our Disney vacation! To answer your question, to add a dining plan to an existing Disney Resort hotel, that dining plan must be added for everyone listed on the reservation. Unfortunately, it's not possible to add a dining plan for some Guests and not others in your travel party. I'm sorry I can't give you better news! I certainly understand your concern. If you choose to add a dining plan, rest assured that your servers at Table-Service restaurants will work with you to adjust portion sizes. The only trouble with this, though, is that you won't be getting the best value out of your dining plan.
Your best bet may be to skip adding a dining plan this time, and pay "out of pocket" (so to speak) for your meals and snacks. You can order from children's menus at
Quick-Service dining locations and pay children's pricing for those meals, saving you quite a bit of money. At
Table-Service restaurants, you'll likely need to pay the Adult pricing, but you'll be able to chat with your Server about any accommodations that are available.
I hope this was helpful, Mary Lou. Please let us know if you have any other questions about your Walt Disney World Resort vacation! We'd love to help you plan a magical stay.
Ashley
