We are heading to WDW for the first time in a few weeks. I keep seeing references to different “apps” and downloading them to a smartphone. I have a very simple cell phone, and it doesn't even text. Can we enjoy the parks without a smartphone?

    Hi David,
Thanks for submitting your question to us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

The short answer to your question is yes, absolutely. However, to maximize your fun, I do recommend doing a few things ahead of time to ensure that you have a really enjoyable visit.

I assume you have a desktop computer since you submitted a question to our forum.  If you haven't set one up yet, I highly suggest a My Disney Experience account to help you arrange all of your tickets, dining reservations, and FastPass+ selections all in one convenient place. If you haven't purchased theme park tickets yet, I recommend that you do so before arrival so you can make some FastPass+ selections. Once you have completed that, please print out your selections for each day of your trip so you can keep track of where to be and when.  I love using the FastPass+ system to enjoy shorter waits for my favorite attractions.

I generally use the My Disney Experience app on my smartphone to do things like check wait times when I'm in the parks, look at restaurant menus, and order food online to keep me from waiting in long lines, especially when the park is busy.  If you happen to have a tablet, you can connect to the WiFi within the Walt Disney World Resort and use it for these things as well.

The My Disney Experience app has park maps at your fingertips and even gives you walking directions from your location to another location of your choice within that theme park.  Alternately, you can pick up a paper map for any theme park as you enter it to help you find your way around.

David, please come back and visit us again with any additional questions about your upcoming visit.

    Best Wishes,
    Amy S.
