    Hello, we will be heading to WDW on December 15th. We are trying the new Magicbands and are flying. I was wondering if it would be a problem taking them through TSA and if having them go through the xray machines and so on would delete or fry the bands.

    Hi Jamie,

    When I first traveled with MagicBands, I had heartburn over letting them go through the airport X-ray machine. However, I rolled the dice and came out a winner. No problems whatsoever and they worked fine afterwards!

    However, I did have a moment of panic when they were getting scanned!

    My wife packed our MagicBands in her backpack, and no more than 5 seconds after she sent it through the X-ray machine, the belt stopped and a buzzer went off. The agent who was scanning the bags stared at his computer screen with a wide-eyed gaze for what seemed like an eternity. 

    After about 30 seconds of "Hmmm's" and head scratching, he waved over to his colleague so he could get a second opinion. At that point, I was sweating bullets. I though for sure that the MagicBands were the cause of their alarm.

    The agents exchanged a few words, and then activated the conveyer belt. As I stood at the end of the line waiting with the other barefooted passengers, the agent grabbed another backpack off the line, opened it up, and pulled out a plastic bag while yelling, "Whose bag is this?"

    This poor little old man standing next to me sheepishly replied, "Mine sir."

    The agent opened up the plastic bag, pulled out a jar of peanut butter, and then gave the man the "You can't bring this on a plane" look. I was so relieved! 

    The poor little old man sadly watched the agent throw his jar of peanut butter into the bin of water bottles and other prohibited items. It was almost like watching the Native American chief with the single tear running down his face in that "Keep America Beautiful" commercial from the 70's. Very sad!

    So, you'll be good to go with your MagicBands (but leave the peanut butter at home!).
