Hello Steven and thanks for bringing such an important question to us here at planDisney!
As the current
UK Panelist, I can totally relate to your question about making purchases that don't already include the sales tax within the stated or advertised price - it's not something we Brits are used to at all! Plus, here in the United Kingdom, we simply don't have the same tipping or gratuity culture as they do over in the United States of America.
Tax shouldn't be taxing whilst on holiday Steven! So it might be helpful for you to know that generally speaking, a sales tax of around 6% is added to the final purchase price of almost every transaction unless otherwise stated.
When dining at
Table Service restaurants, or Fine Dining locations at
Walt Disney World Resort, it is customary in the U.S.A to include a gratuity for good service of around 15-20% of the total bill. However, if for any reason you didn't receive the service you were expecting, it is always possible to discuss your dining experience with the restaurant manager.
Another top planDisney tip (see what I did there?!) for your upcoming October Disney holiday, is to always carry your
UK driving license or passport with you just in case you need to prove your identity or age. It's customary for American citizens to have their government-issued ID on their person at all times.
Steven, if you should have any further enquiries regarding your
Autumnal jolly holiday to the most magical place on earth, then please do pop back to planDisney. I'm always happy to help wherever possible and to the best of my ability!
Have a great Disney day ~ Jane
