Hi Lisa,
Would you believe that just last night one of my sons asked if we could stay at the
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge for our next trip? It is one of our family's favorite resorts because the experience is so unique with the beautiful views of the savannah and all the animals. In fact, the minute we walk into the grand lobby, I think my jaw drops a little each and every time with its rich theming and collection of African art.
As a family, you'll find many opportunities for your child to keep busy with all the available
recreation at the resort from the expansive pool to a playground to a campfire at night for storytelling and marshmallow roasting. When you check in at the resort, you'll be provided with a weekly schedule of all the activities at the resort which vary week to week. You may find your child could participate in arts and crafts, African games or crafts, animal tracking, cookie decorating, or Hidden Mickey searches. The resort has many activities and opportunities every single day.
I might also share that if you booked a room that does not have a view of the savannah, there are balconies throughout the entire resort for guests to enjoy and experience the views and animals. I'm not sure if you will have your own car of will be using Disney transportation; but if you are using Disney transportation, it may be helpful to know that aside from Disney's Animal Kingdom, the bus rides can be a bit longer to the other parks. If your child gets restless, you may want to pack a distraction or two for the bus ride.
Have a wonderful trip and please let us know if you have any further questions,
Kara
