Heading to MK & Epcot this weekend. I know this time is when Spring Break is in full swing. I was curious how the end of the week/weekend crowds are in between weeks? Are Friday and Saturday travel days for those leaving & those arriving?

Hiya, Adam, and welcome to planDisney.

Oh boy! Your visit to Walt Disney World Resort is one sleep away! Spring Break has arrived; the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival is in full bloom, Disney After Hours events are still in motion, and the weather is practically perfect. The number of Guests who visit during this time of year does grow, but there are a few ways to circumvent crowds.

First things first: Are the end of the week and weekend crowds any smaller than those throughout the week? Not really. This is because some parties choose to travel during the weekdays and enjoy the theme parks on the weekend instead. While there could be some days that just happen to have slightly lower crowds, it is rather hard to predict.

Also, in my experience as a Central Florida local, many of our schools here have staggering Spring Break weeks. So, on the weekends, there is the combination of the families who are ending their breaks, beginning their breaks, and who are at the theme parks on any given Saturday as well. My son and I visited this week and, while some areas were crowded, we still had many experiences that felt no different from when it isn't peak travel season.

AN EXTRA GEM: There really isn't a best or worst time of year to visit, so my biggest piece of advice is to plan as much as you can using the My Disney Experience App, prioritize your must-dos, and start your days as early as possible and end them as late as you can (with a midday break in between). Purchasing Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes will definitely help maximize your time in the theme parks. The more time you spend exploring the theme parks versus waiting in the queues, the better. And by the way, to experience attractions like Magic Kingdom Park's TRON Lightcycle / Run or EPCOT's Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind more than once, you'll want to score a free Virtual Queue and buy an Individual Lightning Lane for them.

Adam, please revisit us here at planDisney if you have any other questions before, during, or even after your Most Magical vacation. See you real soon!

    Magic always,
