    Hello! We are heading to Disneyland in January and were curious if there was way to find out what is "disney owned" in downtown disney? We have quite a few giftcards and are not sure what shops/food places will take them and which ones will not.

    Hey there Roxie and welcome to planDisney. One way we control our spending is by finding discount Disney Gift Cards. Since Disney Gift Cards are accepted at the Disney Theme Parks and Resort Hotels, Disney Cruise Line, and on shopDisney, we have plenty of places to use them. 

    Disney Gift Cards can only be used at Disney-owned locations and Downtown Disney District is a mix of third-party retailers and Disney-owned stores. I know it can be confusing where your gift card would be accepted. Starbucks is the one that gets me every time because it is accepted inside the theme parks but not outside the Downtown Disney District.

    planDisney Pro Tip: Having a lot of Disney Gift Cards means managing a lot of Disney Gift Cards. Since there is a $1000 limit on each card (subject to change) you may combine card balances to reach that amount. There is a simple online way to check your balances and transfer balances. This is very helpful if you lose a card but do not want to lose the value; you just transfer that value to another card but you must have a card that will allow you to transfer so the total does not exceed $1000.
