Hi, Kristen! Welcome to planDisney.
How exciting that you’re planning a magical visit to Walt Disney World Resort in May! Traveling with a party of seven—including some picky eaters—means you’re already making smart choices by thinking ahead. And you’ve picked a fantastic spot:
Tambu Lounge at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a tropical treasure with delicious bites and island-inspired beverages!
Now, about your question: While Tambu Lounge offers a delightful selection of appetizers (and even some fantastic cocktails, like Lapu Lapu), it’s understandable that picky eaters—especially younger Mouseketeers—might prefer something a little more familiar.
Technically, Disney dining locations kindly ask that Guests enjoy food purchased from the location they’re seated at. That said, Cast Members at
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort are known for their warm hospitality and often do their best to accommodate families. Since
Capt. Cook’s, the quick-service location, is just downstairs, many Guests have had success politely asking a Cast Member at Tambu Lounge if it's okay for part of their party to bring food up from there—especially for little ones. If the lounge isn’t too busy, there’s a good chance they'll say yes!
If seating is limited or a Cast Member directs you elsewhere, you can always enjoy Capt. Cook’s in the second-floor seating area near
Moana Mercantile, just steps away from Tambu Lounge. It’s a relaxed space and perfect for enjoying a casual meal while still soaking in that island vibe.
Pro tip: Have one adult order from Tambu Lounge while another brings up food from Capt. Cook’s—it helps things move along smoothly!
I hope this helps you make the most of your family’s adventure. Aloha and see ya real soon!
Mike
