Heading to Disney with three girls... ages 6, 4, and 2. never have been. Need to know about spending money. we have the dining plan included in our package. We are conservative spenders.... just some suggestions needed. thanks.

    Hi Alisha,

With the Disney Dining Plan already included in your package, you will find that you will not have to spend a lot on extras, if you choose not to.

You don't mention which plan you chose, but we have always chosen the basic Dining Plan, which allows one Quick Service, one Table Service, and one Snack daily, and have always found that to be more than enough - and this is a family of hungry boys and a former foodie mom!

So, my recommendation is to pack some light snacks, which for us usually includes peanut butter crackers, string cheese, and Capri Sun drinks or water if you think you may need a little extra food between meals. Food and drinks in the Parks are quite expensive.  You can carry these in a small cooler bag into the Parks, or even your purse.

I would also include a small spending budget for each child.  We usually advise our boys to "window shop" each day in the Parks, to get some ideas of what they might like to purchase with their hard-earned money.  Then, on the last day we take them to Downtown Disney to the World of Disney store and let them choose.  That way, they don't make a decision early in the week, buy it, and then fuss the rest of the week when they see something else they would have rather had at another Park!  You can find MOST of the merchandise you see in the Parks at this special store in Downtown Disney.

Some other costs you may want to consider:  tips for the Cast Members who help with your luggage and room cleaning, tips for your restaurant servers, any additional transportation expenses (cabs, etc...).

You can make it through a Disney vacation without spending everything you have.  Just encourage the kids that the experience is what you are there for the most - not the "things"!  Have a wonderful time!
