    We are heading to Disney at the end of October this year. I booked us at Fort Wilderness Lodge. Most interested in convenience, but we can't afford to stay on the monorail. Is Fort Wilderness a good "next best" option? Any drawbacks?

    Hi Shana!

    The Wilderness Lodge Resort is one of the best deals in the Deluxe Resort category! I have stayed there three times in the last few years and I love that Resort. Here is some reasons why it is my favorite Resort:

    1. The theme of the Wilderness Lodge was designed like the Old Faithful Yellowstone Lodge. It feels like you are in the Pacific Northwest and the lobby alone will take your breath away!
    2. The Wilderness Lodge is very close to the Magic Kingdom, in fact it is only a short boat or bus ride to the Magic Kingdom. There is Disney bus transportation from the Wilderness Lodge to all of the theme parks, water parks, and Downtown Disney.
    3. It has a great pool and two awesome sit down restaurants (Whispering Canyon Cafe and Artist Point) and a quick service restaurant (The Roaring Fork) right inside the resort
    4. The Fire Rock Geyser erupts on the hour
    5. The rooms are amazing too with wood animal carvings on the headboards of the queen sized beds
    6. There are multiple fireplaces that you can enjoy inside the Wilderness Lodge Resort
     
    I really do not see any drawbacks to staying at the Wilderness Lodge Resort because you get all the benefits of staying in a Deluxe Resort without paying as much, so it really is a win-win situation!

    I hope your Wilderness Lodge Resort stay in Walt Disney World is truly amazing and even magical!
