Heading to Disney in August 2nd year in a row! I wanted to do MM with the Fantasmic package, but no availability! They offered Hollywood and Vine buffet, but undecided...recommmendations? I was thinking SciFi and just waiting in line for Fantasmic??

    Hi Erica,

A Disney trip per year - lucky you!

I think dining at SciFi Drive in and waiting in line for Fantasmic sounds like your best plan.  The separate entrance to Fantasmic! for guests with the dining package was recently eliminated.  There is now just one line, and while there is still a roped off section for guests with the package, it becomes available to the general public at some point before the show.

I've heard that even with the package, guests are still having to line up 45 minutes before the show to insure a seat in the roped off section.  In my mind, that makes the appeal of the dining package considerably less.  In the past, I would have advised you to eat at Hollywood and Vine, but now - eat at a restaurant you know you'll enjoy.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
