We will be heading back to Disney World in May '09. We are staying at the Boardwalk. We have 2 young boys, ages 4 and 1 1/2. We are trying to determine whether we need a rental car. We are hoping to avoid this extra expense.

Lisa, there are definitely many different opinions on this.  My children were a similar age to yours the last time we visited Walt Disney World, and we did not rent a car.  Personally, I feel this is one of the biggest benefits to staying at a Disney resort.  You can take the Magical Express from the airport, and Disney transportation from your resort to the parks.  We enjoy having a break from driving, have a more "green" vacation, and avoid loading our kids in and out of car seats!

If you do forgo the rental car, just remember to plan a little extra time for the bus transportation.  It isn't a perfect system, but we find it to be just right for our purposes.  I hope that helps -- and if you cut out the rental car, that's more money to spend on food and souvenirs!
