Headed to WDW with three boys, 6, 4, and 2. I know some rides allow rider switch, but what is the best option for rides such as the Seven Dwarfs? Would my husband take my 6yo, while I wait with the others, then I take the 4yo, while he waits with them?

Heigh ho, Julie! Thanks for stopping by to see us again at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

My husband and I love to visit Snow White's pals on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train - but our five-year-old son doesn't share our enthusiasm. We've used the Rider Switch Service a few times and honestly, it's been slightly different each time.

Rider Switch allows families with small children to experience attractions that they might otherwise miss because the little ones don't meet the height requirement or are afraid to ride. The service lets you enter the ride queue together, then split up as one parent rides while the other stays behind with the non-riding child. Once the ride is over, the parents switch so the other can ride while the first stays with the child.

We usually use a FastPass+ selection for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. We'll all enter the FastPass+ queue and tell the Cast Member we want to use Rider Switch for our son. You may get a Rider Switch Pass - or you may not. As you approach the boarding area, you'll either give that Cast Member your pass or tell her you're using Rider Switch. The Cast Member will direct the non-riding parent and the child to the side where the ride unloads to wait while the other parent rides. When the ride's over, you slip back to the loading area and ride.

Up to three Guests are allowed to switch, but since your boys are only 6 and 4, you'll probably need to take them one at a time because the cars only seat two per row and your little guys may still be too young to sit alone. I'd check with a Cast Member to be sure.

I hope this helps your family enjoy this amazing new attraction, Julie. Wishing you a magical Walt Disney World vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
