Hi, Megan!
A rainy day in Walt Disney World is still a great day, so you've got the perfect attitude by gearing up with your ponchos and planning around the raindrops!
We hate walking around in the rain in wet sneakers, so we wear open-toed sandals, flip-flops, crocs, etc., which are
made of water-resistant material. Don a baseball cap to wear under your poncho to keep the rain off your face too. Once properly covered, you won't mind the rain (Many Guests head home if it rains, leaving the parks far less crowded!)
Disney has done a marvelous job of keeping most attraction queue areas under cover, so you'll be out of the elements then. I keep an extra bag handy (such as a sturdy bag from one of the park shops) and fold our ponchos up and into the bag if we're going to be indoors for a bit.
Use the heavier rain time to see attractions which you might have overlooked. There are fantastic activities in Epcot's
Innoventions which will keep you busy for hours...and it's all indoors. Other great indoor activities can be found at the exit area of Spaceship Earth and Mission: SPACE as well. At Magic Kingdom, don't miss Mickey's PhilharMagic while you're in the area for it's a small world, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Peter Pan's Flight, which are all indoors. Hit multiple indoor attractions or shows near each other, then grab a bite to eat and reevaluate the weather when you've finished.
Of course, at Downtown Disney, there's
DisneyQuest Indoor Interactive Theme Park, the world's largest World of Disney Store and an AMC movie theater, which even boasts a dine-in theater, Fork & Screen.
Have a wonderful week in Walt Disney World! Rain or shine, you're sure to have a blast together!
