We are headed to WDW for the first time in Feb 2017. I know there will be new magic bands in 2017. We have not yet received our bands, and I'm wondering if you know more about when the new ones will start & what the differences will be

Hi, Whitney! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

How exciting that you are going to be at “the most magical place on Earth” so soon! I happen to be very excited about the new MagicBand 2 which will feature the same great functionality as the current MagicBand such as serving as your Walt Disney World Resort room key, as your theme park ticket, as your Disney PhotoPass card, access to your FastPass+ selections, and of course, the ability to link to your My Disney Experience account! The design of the MagicBand 2 is more versatile as you will be able to wear it in classic MagicBand style, or with MagicKeepers! MagicKeepers will allow Guests to wear their MagicBand 2 on a lanyard instead of on their wrist! As for a release date, Disney has indicated that these will start to appear “soon”. I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you, and it never hurts to “wish upon a star”!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
