We're headed "home" with our two teens, ages 14 and 16, in April. Can you recommend a magical extra that we can do with them or schedule to make this vacation more memorable? Thanks!

Hello Jennifer! My wife and I like to say that our three sons “grew up” in the Disney Parks! We’ve been taking them since they were very young. They’ve now grown into teenagers! We’ve entered a new phase of life in the Disney Parks!

During more recent visits, we’ve enjoyed new experiences together! We visited Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park during our last family trip! While there we rented a Polar Patio so that we could relax with a bit more privacy. This was also nice because my wife and I enjoyed some time together while letting the boys explore the water park. We also enjoyed the many attractions that allow families to compete against each other! And, of course, all three boys had their first plunge down Summit Plummet! This is one of the most thrilling attractions in all of the Walt Disney World Resort! At the conclusion of our trip, I asked the boys what was the "best part" of the vacation. The answer was unanimous...Disney's Blizzard Beach!

Another amazing experience that teenagers will enjoy is the new Cirque du Soleil show, Drawn to Life, being performed at Disney Springs! This show combines the creative process behind Disney animation with the grace and strength of the human body! It’s an incredibly entertaining show!

Another fun event with teenagers is a dinner show! Our family favorite is Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue! Teens are at an age where the humor is better understood and the show is good family fun!

On our last visit, my wife and I also made the decision to allow the boys to begin experiencing the parks without us. This was a big step! We relaxed back at the resort pool, while the boys took the Disney Skyliner to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Guests must be 14 years old to enter a park without an adult, so both of your children would be permitted into the parks.

Jennifer, I hope some of these suggestions are helpful as you continue planning with teenagers in mind! It's a new and exciting time to visit the parks! Also, remember that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is a new thrill ride in EPCOT! Wow! That ride is intense! And, TRON Lightcycle / Run will be the newest roller coaster to open in Magic Kingdom Park in April! I think these attractions are perfect for teenagers!

    Happy planning!
