Hello headed to Disneyworld and will be there on Halloween. Are there any other special things going on at resorts or downtown on Halloween besides the Mickey's not so scarry Halloween party? Thanks!

Hi Holly! Holidays are always fun at Walt Disney World and Halloween is no exception.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party is the star of the parks when wanting to celebrate this spooky day. The party is also held on days leading up to the 31st as well as the day after so you have plenty of time to purchase the ticket of your choice.

The resorts generally don't have special activities planned. Downtown Disney used to have trick or treating but they have not done that in the last few years. Announcements about this years plans can be made as late as about 30 days in advance so things can change for 2013.

The one resort that I suggest you consider visiting on Halloween or any night around that is Fort Wilderness. Many guests park their motor coaches and campers and decorate their sites with goblins and ghouls and fun. It is worth a trip to just walk through some of the loops.  In the past this resort has held trick or treating among the sites. Those guests who wish to participate put up a sign that welcomes the little pirates and princesses to knock on their doors. For the couple days before and on the 31st Fort Wilderness usually hosts a golf cart parade, a pet parade, pumpkin carving contest, and games and activities for the children. Again nothing is set in stone for 2013 and those plans usually will be made around the first of October.
