Headed to Disneyland/DCA in Sept. with my 17 month old and almost four year old. My hubby and I used to go frequently just the two of us, but it’s the first time with the kids. What are some must do activities, attractions, or entertainment for their age?

    Hey there Ashley,

Welcome to planDisney and thanks so much for your question!

Let me first say that I'm excited to hear that you're about to have your first experience visiting the Disneyland Resort with little ones! Similar to you, I've visited the parks with my wife, friends, and family fairly frequently, but we took our son for the first time when he was 18 months old and have continued to visit every year since - now with him and our daughter!

While I absolutely loved visiting the Happiest Place on Earth prior to kids - you really get to see a whole new side of the Magic when visiting when little ones.

My first suggestion for you is to absolutely utilize the Baby Care Centers located in both parks. These are great options for a quick change/potty and even just as a quiet place for a pit stop and snack.

In Disneyland Park, I'd very highly recommend checking out Mickey's Toontown! This land was recently reimagined and is perfect for little ones to explore and meet some of their favorite characters. Similarly, the rides in Fantasyland are great first rides for little ones - just keep in mind your little one's temperaments as some of these rides might still feel a bit scary to some (like Mr. Toad's Wild Ride).

Over in Disney California Adventure Park, you'll most definitely get ample opportunities to meet your favorite superheroes in Avenger's Campus. Since it will be the Halloween season during your visit, you'll get to enjoy the decorated Cars Land and can try Luigi's Honkin Haul-O-Ween and Mater's Graveyard JamBOOree.

One other specific recommendation in this park would be the Disney Junior Dance Party! This is a fun time for your kiddos to see all their favorite characters and join in on the dance party while you and your husband can clap along and have a well-deserved sit!

I would also highly recommend the Disney Genie+ Service during your visit. Not only does it give you access to Lightning Lane entrances to shorten the wait times with your little ones, but it also offers unlimited digital downloads of PhotoPass photographs. When my family and I visit, we love utilizing this option and seeking out as many PhotoPass Photographers as possible so we can have amazing photos to document our trip!

I hope you have a fantastic visit to the Disneyland Resort, Ashley, and thanks again for your question!

    Have a Magical Day,
