We are headed to Disneyland next week (9/29-9/31). My son is planning to propose to his long-time girlfriend on 9/29 as they are exiting the Indiana Jones ride (in front of the sign). Is there any way to get help pulling this off (with Photopass pics too)?

Hi Jennifer, and welcome to planDisney! Golly, the Disneyland Resort is the perfect setting for a fairytale moment as special as proposing. Your son is lucky to have your help in making the occasion extra special.

There are a few things to be mindful of while exiting Indiana Jones Adventure. Without knowing exactly which location your son is dreaming of for the proposal, just know that the attraction exits are designed as a one-way flow, and Guests are encouraged to continue moving. If you're referring to the sign outside of the queue near the front of the attraction, that is a better option, but there may still be a lot of other Guests in the area. Perhaps you or someone in your party can skip riding the attraction and get into position to take a few photos.

Regarding Disney PhotoPass photographers, you can most easily find them at designated locations across the park, such as in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, in Town Square, and even at the Millennium Falcon. These are fantastic options for proposals – wait in line, get posed for a photo, and pop the question once the photographer is ready. Unfortunately, there isn't currently a designated PhotoPass location near Indiana Jones Adventure.

However, you may have an additional option through a Photo Excursion – this is a popular, free photo session lasting between 10 and 15 minutes, during which a PhotoPass photographer will take a series of photos in one area of the park. This cannot be booked in advance and is subject to availability. PhotoPass photographers can typically be found roaming areas of the park, such as Main Street, U.S.A., Frontierland, Adventureland, and Fantasyland, after 12 p.m. If you encounter one of them, you can request a Photo Excursion. Your son could potentially wait to propose until he encounters a PhotoPass photographer in or near Adventureland, and he can ask if they can take a photo in front of Indiana Jones Adventure. Once you arrive in the park, you can break away from the group for a few minutes to visit a Guest Relations kiosk and ask the Cast Member if they have more information about the Photo Excursion. It's a good idea to have a backup option, too, just in case.

Here are a couple of other ideas, Jennifer:

    • For a calm but adventurous setting, head to Tom Sawyer Island – once you arrive by raft, you'll notice winding paths, lots of trees, panoramic views, and a more relaxed pace. Your son can walk to the edge of the island, take a seat at a bench, and pull out the ring!
    • There's an Indiana Jones pinball machine across from Jungle Cruise (in the seating area adjacent to Bengal Barbecue) that costs four quarters to play. Wouldn't it be so fun to play the game, pretend as though there was a prize, and pull out the ring to propose? That would be a memorable way to incorporate Indiana Jones into the proposal.

Pixie dust is in the air! I hope everything comes together as perfectly as a fairytale ending. Please reach out if you have any other questions, Jennifer. We're always happy to help here at planDisney.

Wishing you and your family happiness,
    Kriss
