Hi there! We are headed to Disneyland and California Adventure November 13-15. I know that the holiday kick off for the Christmas season is November 14th. Is there anything we should know about closures on the 13th prior to the season change in the parks?

Hi there, Megan. Welcome to planDisney!

I’m delighted to see you’ll be visiting the Happiest Place on Earth just as it’s about to kick off Holidays at the Disneyland Resort! Just a few days ago, Disney Parks Blog provided a brief sneak peek on what offerings will be available throughout the Disneyland Resort and I can’t wait to see Sleeping Beauty’s Castle adorned with glistening shimmer! I’m also looking forward to seeing Mickey Mouse and Friends and their 70th celebration attire with a holiday twist.

I have done multi-day visits to the Disneyland Resort around the start of the holiday season and let me just say, MAGIC truly happens. While some parts of the theme parks may already be embellished by the time of the first day of your visit, more festive décor will likely happen overnight just before the start of the Holidays, with the help of Santa’s countless elves and Mickey Mouse’s many friends.

While we don’t have all the details at this time, historically Haunted Mansion and "it’s a small world" had brief refurbishments to get ready for holiday overlays. For this reason, I do foresee some attractions being closed in preparation for the kickoff to Holidays at the Disneyland Resort. Because Haunted Mansion Holiday begins in time for Halloween, Sandy Claws will have already decked it out by the end of August. I anticipate "it’s a small world" will be closed starting in mid- to late-September to incorporate the holiday overlay, and is scheduled to return on November 14, 2025.

As it gets closer to your trip, I highly encourage you to check out Disney Parks Blog for all the latest news and updates. Information regarding ride refurbishments can also be found on the Disneyland Resort website when you check the Hours and Events Calendar and search by dates. At this time, the calendar is only open through early September, so give it a couple of months and you’ll be able to see what rides, if any, will be closed during your visit.

I’m sorry I don’t have any concrete details at this time, Megan. As it gets closer to your trip and if you have additional questions, please don’t hesitate to stop by planDisney again.

    Have a magical day,
    Kiki

Meet the Panelist: Kiki, California

Greetings! I have been fascinated by the magic of Disney since I was a little girl; now that I am a mother of two, I love watching my children experience Disney Parks through their own eyes. I am also surrounded by fellow Disney-loving nurse friends whom I enjoy quick adults-only Disneyland Resort escapes or Disney Cruise Line voyages with. Whether you are planning your once-in-a-lifetime family trip or a short adults-only getaway to the Happiest Place on Earth, I am here to help!
