We are headed to Disney World later this year! I would love to dress my 2 year old son up like Peter Pan. Peter Pan has a small knife. Does Disney allow toy/prop weapons or no? Are there any rules around them if they are allowed?

Think of a wonderful thought, Mary! I believe it might be your son all dressed up and flying through Fantasyland! I adore seeing kids dressed up as their heroes and heroines, and my kids are no different. My son visited The Pirates League this summer and donned the Captain Hook look; he was arrrrrrguably the best pirate around.

Your son is welcome to wear the entire Peter Pan getup, tights included, but there are no weapons allowed, including look-alikes. Weapons of any kind are banned, including toys, squirt guns, etc. The only kind of thing that has been allowed are light sabers, since they only “existed a long time ago and far, far away.” I’m sure a little pixie dust would make a fine accessory to his costume; perhaps you will be visiting in time to catch Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party? It’s a frightfully good time in Magic Kingdom Park, with limited admission, trick or treating, villainous parades, and spectacular fireworks. Be sure to check the select dates and secure a ticket in advance, and prep your costume to match… perhaps Wendy’s classic blue nightdress is the look for you?

If you find that you won’t have time on your magical vacation to stop into the Halloween Party, be sure to open your My Disney Experience Mobile App to check the characters and entertainment guide for Magic Kingdom Park, as Peter Pan tends to visit Fantasyland when he’s not off rescuing the Lost Boys in Neverland. Please let me know if I can help you any further…. YOU CAN FLY! ~ Lindsey P.
