Hi James,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am delighted that you brought this question to us!
Chef Mickey's is one of our favorite character meals. To get from Disney's Polynesian Village Resort to Chef Mickey's you will need to take the
Resort Monorail. The monorail officially starts operating about 30 minutes prior to the earliest park opening. Just check the
park hours for the day of your dining reservation.
We often take the resort monorail because we love staying at Disney's Contemporary Resort. We have been able to take the monorail by 7:30 a.m. and on one visit, I distinctly remember arriving at 7:30 a.m. and we had just missed a monorail so it had started operating before 7:30 a.m. On other occasions, we have gone to catch the monorail and it has been out of service. I am sorry to say that you will only know for sure on the day of your reservation!
Having said that, we have generally had good experiences with the monorail. We love the quick service to Magic Kingdom and other resorts on the monorail line. I would start checking at the monorail stand by 7:00 a.m. on the day of your dining reservation at Chef Mickey's. Try the bus service if the monorail is not an option.
If buses are running, take the bus to Magic Kingdom then catch a bus or walk to Disney's Contemporary Resort. The
Walt Disney World Bus Service officially starts operating about 45 minutes prior to park opening. If all else fails, ask a cast member to help you arrange for a taxi - we have done so in the past.
James, I trust you will get there safely and on time to see Mickey and the gang!
Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
Donyell
