Hi Marnie!
I love hearing from people who are preparing for their first visit to Walt Disney World. How exciting!
As far as your son goes, I have no doubt that he'll have a blast wherever you go. If he digs thrill rides, then he'll find awesome attractions at each of the four theme parks. If he likes water parks, then spending a half day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon or Disney's Blizzard Beach would surely be fun for him. Plus, there's a whole host of other recreation activities available to experience around the entire Walt Disney World property.
I'll throw out a few ideas, but please feel free to send me a message back if you want more ideas or have questions about specific experiences you may be considering.
Idea #1 - Check out Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Tutorial in the Magic Kingdom. The International Talk-Like-A-Pirate Day doesn't roll around until September, but this will help your son practice his chops and get ready to be a proper pirate when that day comes.
Idea #2 - Check out Test Track in Epcot. If your son is into cars like I was at his age, then he'll love this ride and the overall experience of the attraction.
Idea #3 - If your son likes action movies, then he'll definitely get a kick out of the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show in Disney's Hollywood Studios. It blows me away every time I see it.
As far as special events go during the week of your visit, I'm actually happy to say that I don't know. The reason I'm happy is because Disney is rolling out special surprises each week through the
Limited Time Magic promotion. There may be some special treats in store for you during your visit!
I hope that helps! Please feel free to send me a message back with more questions if I can be of any further assistance!
Best regards,
Derek
