Why hello there Denise, I'm happy to wish you a warm wedding welcome to planDisney!

From one Disney couple to another, I want to say Congratulations on your wedding! My husband and I got married at Walt Disney World Resort with the help of Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings team and also spent the week afterward having the most incredible honeymoon, so I'm thrilled to be able to help you with some great tips and advice to make the most of your first visit with some great romantic moments mixed in:

As many kids are back in school following the American summer holidays, September can be a great time of year to head the theme parks! You'll want to keep a close eye on the Hours & Events Calendar as you plan around the order of your visit, especially since Magic Kingdom Park is currently scheduled to close earlier on Sunday September 15, Tuesday September 17 and Friday September 20 due to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. This is a separately-ticketed event that could be great for you both to experience for a Halloween twist to your honeymoon, but if you're not planning on attending I'd avoid going to Magic Kingdom Park on those particular days if your tickets don't have the Park Hopper Option.

One of the great perks of honeymooning at a Disney Resort Hotel is the ability to take advantage of Extended Evening Theme Park Hours when you stay at a Disney Deluxe Resort, Disney Deluxe Villa Resort or even the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels which grants you the ability to stay even longer in the parks on certain nights - like at EPCOT on Monday September 16 or Magic Kingdom Park on Wednesday September 18.

Some couples also like to take advantage of using a Honeymoon Registry for loved ones among their friends and family to help them with some great experiences during their visit, like romantic rides or special evening events that can be booked in the Enchanting Extras collection. (Be sure to wear a complimentary Happily Ever After button if you can snag one from a Cast Member!)

Personally two things that you simply cannot miss out on are the fireworks spectaculars like Happily Ever After (that will not be shown on evenings when the Halloween party is taking place) and Luminous The Symphony of Us which has some great heartfelt moments that really touched us as newlyweds.
