We're headed to Disney next week. We've heard it is the busiest week of the year(YIKES!!!)We're traveling with 3 children (5, 3, 1 1/2). Planning one day at MK, and are debating between AK and HS. Thoughts? AK better first thing in the morn.? or later?

Hi, Tracy!  Actually, the busiest week of the year is going to be the week between Christmas and New Year's, but Thanksgiving week is a pretty close contender!

I think with young children, Animal Kingdom is a great choice.  My girls have always enjoyed seeing the animals, riding the safari, and as they got older, they loved the Festival of the Lion King - a Broadway style performance of this wonderful story.  I find if you go earlier in the day, the animals are apt to be a bit more lively, before the heat of the afternoon has them sprawled out relaxing.

Your best bet during a busy time is to use the Fast Pass system whenever you can.  Always try to have one Fast Pass in hand, so if your Fast Pass window is open, before you head to that attraction, grab a Fast Pass for something else.  My girls loved the parades at this age, but if you have the chance to skip a parade, you might find lines a little bit shorter as people line the parade route.  Eat during off peak hours - earlier lunches and later dinners.

Another good time to try to avoid some of the lines is during the fireworks.  Again, many guests will be waiting to see the fireworks show and not lining up for some of the attractions.  If you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel, you may want to take advantage of the morning extra magic hours to get a jump start on the general public!

    Have a great vacation!
