Hi Jillian ~
The Disney World Hotel resorts are awesome and you should definitely plan on exploring your resort. They have great pools and some have splash play areas as well. Many resorts also have playgrounds. When you check in your resort, pick up a list of activities they have planned for the week. Many of them have special activities for little ones that would certainly get you out of your room.
Head to Downtown Disney. In addition to all the awesome shops and great places to eat there, your 16 month old may enjoy:
* LEGO Imagination Center
* Marketplace Carousel
* Marketplace Train Express
* Visit Once Upon A Toy to build a great Mr. Potato Head and shop for some awesome toys
In the summer months the fountains near Once Upon A Toy are a big hit. Kids love to splash around in them. Take a change of clothes, a towel, and enjoy.
I would not completely shy away from the parks, especially the Magic Kingdom. Your 16 month old would not have to pay to enter and there are
attractions and
entertainment options that little ones really enjoy. Plus it is great to see the look on their faces when they meet Mickey Mouse for the very first time. If you do decide to head to a park, I provided another Guest with some
tips for visiting the parks with little ones that you may find helpful as well.
