Welcome to planDisney Kalene! Thanks for stopping by with your question about planning your very first
Walt Disney World Resort vacation, how exciting! With your party, you’re sure to experience the magic from every angle. I’m so happy to help you get the most out of your 3-day park adventure and offer some tips on whether Lightning Lane is the right fit for your travel party. Let’s make this trip unforgettable!
Similar to you, I have 13 year old twins and a 4 year old and have traveled to Disney with them many times. The key is to balance magic and comfort especially in the June heat with little legs in tow. You'll want to hit must dos for both your toddler and your tween, while keeping the grown ups sane and smiling.
I’d recommend starting with
Magic Kingdom on your first day. It’s the classic Disney park and perfect for first timers. Your daughter will be in awe of the castle and love rides like Dumbo, it’s a small world, and Peter Pan’s Flight. The parade and fireworks are absolutely magical and unforgettable. Your son will also find lots to love here, from Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean to Haunted Mansion. Magic Kingdom offers a great blend of attractions for every age.
Hollywood Studios would be great for your second day. Your 12 year old will probably be thrilled with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Slinky Dog Dash, Tower of Terror, and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. For your toddler, there's the Disney Junior Play & Dance party, Alien Swirling Saucers, and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, which is fun and gentle enough for everyone. The Frozen Sing Along is also a perfect break spot; cool, funny, and interactive.
On your third day, I’d suggest visiting
Animal Kingdom. It’s a more relaxing park, which is great toward the end of your trip, and it offers lots of shade and lush scenery. The Kilimanjaro Safari is a must do for all ages. If your little one is anything like mine, she will love the Festival of the Lion King. Meanwhile, your son can tackle Avatar Flight of Passage and Expedition Everest for some serious thrills. It’s a beautiful park and a great finale.
As for
Lightning Lane Passes, they are definitely worth it in June. The summer crowds are real, and the heat can make waiting in long lines extra tough, especially for a toddler. The Lightning Lane Multi Pass system lets you pre select three rides in advance, and then you can keep adding more as the day goes on. That means you can avoid long waits for attractions such as Peter Pan’s Flight, Slinky Dog Dash, or Flight of Passage. With six people in your group and a wide range of interests and energy levels, skipping the lines is a game changer. It also makes it easier to stay flexible and take breaks without feeling like you're falling behind.
Some general advice to make your trip smoother: arrive at the parks early to take advantage of cooler temps and lower crowds. Take breaks in the afternoon either in the shade or back at your resort to reset, especially for your little one. Bring or rent a stroller, even if your daughter seems like she’s past that stage, it will be a lifesaver for tired feet and quick naps.
Kalene, I hope this helps you get everything set up for your magical adventure at Walt Disney World Resort! Thank you for visiting planDisney, and have a pixie dusted day!
