Hello, we are headed to my daughter's first trip to WDW and wondered what happens when a thunderstorm rolls in? We'll be there from June 6-11 and want to make the most of our trip. Do they close the rides down completely? Do the inside rides stay open?

    Hi Stacie,

You must be so excited to bring your daughter to Walt Disney World for the first time!  The magical memories that you'll create will be treasured for years to come.

When it rains, it's business as usual.  If there were threatening lightning, outdoor attractions would be closed for safety reasons.  However, indoor attractions would continue to operate as normal.  Epcot is a great place to be on a stormy, rainy day as most of the attractions are indoors.  Even if you aren't in Epcot, there is plenty to do in the other parks as well.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
