Hi Mary Jane! Welcome to planDisney. It's lovely to encounter a fellow tea drinker here, and I have several sips of tea to help you plan a vacation that is practically perfect in every way!
Like you, I consider my morning cup of tea to be an absolute must. I have tried to acquire morning tea in just about every way during my many stays at the Walt Disney World Resort, so warm up your mug and get ready for teatime!
Let's start with making tea in your room. My dear friend and fellow panelist, Tabitha D., just returned from a stay at
Disney's Contemporary Resort, and she confirmed that the coffee maker in her room was a Keurig. These machines come with coffee pods, but also English Breakfast and Green tea pods. Mousekeeping will replenish your tea supply; if you need more sooner than their visit schedule, you're welcome to call Housekeeping from your room phone and they will bring more tea (I once had a lovely Cast Member arrive at my room with a silver platter of tea pods!). I always purchase milk from the Quick-Service dining location to keep in my room refrigerator to add to my morning cup of tea. If you prefer your own blend of tea, you can also run hot water only through the machine onto a teabag you bring from home (I almost always travel with my own tea), or into a small teapot or diffuser you can fill with your own leaves.
You may inquire about microwave availability by calling or dropping by the front desk when you arrive, but note that these are usually reserved for Guests with a medical need. Electric tea kettles are not available at the resort hotels for safety reasons.
At this time,
Disney Resorts Room Service is not available as part of the phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort. However, I actually love to get up first thing in the morning and take a walk for my cup of tea. At Disney's Contemporary Resort, you could visit
Contempo Cafe for a standard cup of tea (usually a Twinings or Lipton teabag), or head down to the main floor to
Contemporary Grounds, which has a nice selection of teas. I really enjoy exploring my resort while enjoying a cup of tea - you could walk around the back of the hotel and watch the sunrise over Bay Lake, sit near the lake, or find a seat inside and enjoy the ambience. I find this to be a peaceful way to start my Disney days.
From one tea drinker to another, I must share one of my favorite spots in all of Walt Disney World with you. At
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, the Royal Anandapur Tea Company Joffrey's Coffee & Tea location has a wonderful selection of brewed loose teas. My husband and I are counting down the days until we are sipping our tea in this picturesque spot in the Asia section of the park!
I'm raising my teacup in a chEARs to your vacation, Mary Jane. Should you think of any further questions as you count down the DAYS until your visit to the Walt Disney World Resort, please come back and see us. I always love to spill the tea about all things Disney!
May your cup be overflowing with magic!
