We head to Disney in 24 days for our DD's (13 & 10) first trip! Just booked dinner reservations at Jiko at AKL on Monday August 26th at 6:15pm. We are staying at POR, any suggestions on how long it will take to get from one resort to the other? Thanks

     Hi Jennifer!

Your 1st Walt Disney World vacation countdown is ticking away quickly, your family must be very excited right now!  Jiko is a fabulous dining location at Walt Disney World and it gives you a wonderful chance to check out Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge.Traveling from resort to resort in Walt Disney World will require a transfer of  some sorts because buses do not travel directly from resort to resort.  Typically, I would suggest taking the Animal Kingdom bus from Port Orleans Riverside and transfer to the Animal Kingdom Lodge bus.Since your dining reservations will be after Animal Kingdom's closing time, that route is obviously not going to work.

Realistically, you could take any of the theme park buses with the shortest line and transfer to the Animal Kingdom Lodge bus.Your quickest route might be to take the bus to Epcot or Hollywood Studios and transfer to an Animal Kingdom Lodge bus at either of these parks.  When returning to Port Orleans Riverside any of the parks, except Animal Kingdom Lodge, will still be open in order to transfer to a bus from Animal Kingdom Lodge to Port Orleans Riverside.Downtown Disney is always a great option, especially is you are returning after a parks closing time. The buses at Downtown Disney will continue to run until 2 am.

While the quickest option would be to take a taxi, which the front desk will be glad to help with those arrangements, this would probably take around 20 minutes by taxi.  Using Walt Disney World's transportation I would give yourself 45 minutes to 1 hour to make sure you have plenty of time for those transfers.  I like to be on the safe side in case you are in a situation where you have to wait a little longer for a bus or if Port Orleans Riverside happens to be sharing a bus with Port Orleans French Quarter.

I hope this was helpful and please let me know if I can help with anymore questions!

    Have a magical vacation!
