we are having a vow renewal at a chapel, but we want to have our special dinner at Disneyland where we are staying. We will be staying at the Disneyland hotel specifically. Do I have to change out of my wedding dress? It does not have a train

Gabrielle, you’re going to the chapel, and you’re gonna get married! Congratulations! What better way to ensure a magical and memorable wedding day than visiting a magical place - Disneyland!

I’m so glad you brought your question to planDisney! Let’s look at some of the guidelines stated on the Disneyland website about attire.

It’s important to acknowledge that cast members have the final say on interpreting the guidelines stated on the Disneyland website. Since I don’t know what your dress is like, it’s not possible for me to just say “yeah, go for it!” Actually, two parts of the dress code FAQs concern me about visiting the parks in your wedding dress. While it would be magical to visit Disneyland in your dress, it would be equally disappointing to be turned away and miss your dinner reservation.

First, it’s stated that “…clothing which may drag on the ground and create a potential trip hazard” is not allowed. While I understand there is no train on your dress, if it is a floor-length dress, a cast member may not allow it. The second issue also depends on your dress. There have been guests who arrive in wedding gowns and have been mistaken for characters. The park rules also clearly state that “engaging with other Guests or impeding operations while posing as or portraying any character in costume” is strictly prohibited. While that would not be your intention, it could lead to a misunderstanding.

While I’m sure you would prefer a clearer answer, it’s difficult for me to know for sure without understanding what your dress entails. Perhaps a quick wardrobe change after the ceremony would be a safe bet.

While it sounds like you have your wedding planned, have you considered a honeymoon package with Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons? There are so many options and special experiences you can include in their packages to celebrate your marriage!

I can hear the wedding bells ringing already, and I’m so happy for you. I hope you have a magical ceremony and a wonderful celebration. Don’t hesitate to keep bringing your questions to planDisney. Have a magical day!
