I am having trouble with a pinched nerve, we have rented a scooter (ECV) but can I use my cane getting on and off rides?

    Hi, Melinda! Welcome to planDisney!

Oh my Mickey waffles, your Walt Disney World Resort vacation starts one week from today! It's such an amazing time to visit right now, with the 50th Anniversary golden touches and the holiday decorations lending a lovely glow to the theme parks. I just know you're going to have a magical time!

I'm so sorry you haven't been feeling well, Melinda. I think you'll find that renting an Electric Conveyance Vehicle will be a big help for you. My mom had bad knees so we rented a wheelchair for her on her last visit (over her protestations, I might add!), and in the end, she was really glad to have it. When you need to exit your ECV to board an attraction, you can absolutely use a cane. There may be certain attractions in which you'll need to leave the cane behind at boarding, so just let a Cast Member know you have a cane and they'll be happy to assist you with it. My friend and fellow planDisney panelist Robyn has some really helpful suggestions for using a cane at Walt Disney World from experience with her dad.

Melinda, I'm so excited for you to celebrate the start of the holiday season at The Most Magical Place on Earth! The whole place really does seem to shine a little brighter during the holidays, and I'm glad you'll get to experience it. Thanks for stopping by to see us, and I wish you and your family a magical vacation and the happiest of holidays!

    Keep Disney Dreaming,

    Kathy K.

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
