We are having trouble picking between Carribbean & Animal k. Does it really take 45 min to get from AK to MK? We have a 5 & 1 year old kids, we have stayed at CB before and liked it. Our son likes bunk beds so that's why we were looking at AK. H

    Hi Casey!

I'd definitely recommend giving Animal Kingdom Lodge a try! Your son will indeed love the bunk beds, the dining options are fantastic, the pool area is great, and the distance from your room to amenities like the bus depot and pool are not far at all.

While it is true that Animal Kingdom Lodge is about the furthest possible property from Magic Kingdom in terms of its actual location, it isn't a 45 minute trip! Once you've boarded a Disney Transportation System Bus, you can expect this furthest trip to take about 15-20 minutes to reach your destination. It is always recommended that you 'allow' or budget for a total of 60 minutes of travel time from one destination to another. You may incur a wait time of 10-20 minutes for your bus to arrive, depending on your timing when arriving at the bus depot itself on either end of the journey, so allowing a little extra time is always a good idea.

My family stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge for the first time about 18 months ago, and we booked a Savannah View Bunk Bed Room. It was worth every penny! The view of the savannah's giraffes was simply amazing and such a serene environment to wake to in the mornings. Breakfast at Boma is a definite "must-do" (try the goat cheese and chive scrambled eggs!) and the pool area is a wonderful retreat in itself.

Another option to consider, if you're interested in a Bunk Bed Room set-up, is Disney's Wilderness Lodge. I just returned from this wonderful location two days ago and thoroughly enjoyed it! It's a very kid-friendly resort with a great pool, boat transportation to the nearby Magic Kingdom, and fun dining at Whispering Canyon Cafe.

All the best to you as you make your final decisions for your next trip to Walt Disney World. I welcome you to visit me again any time if I can be of further assistance in your planning!

Wishing you a simply Magical time at Walt Disney World Casey!
