Having trouble getting a Chef Mickey breakfast for 8/16 -8/25 and a dinner at Ohana and suggestions

    Hi Tammy,

Unfortunately, reservations for breakfast at Chef Mickey's and dinner at 'Ohana are pretty tough to come by. Guests usually have to lock those down 180 days prior to their arrival.

Don't throw in the towel yet because I have a couple of ideas that might help.

    1) Cancellations happen all the time, so plan to either call Walt Disney World Dining at (407) WDW-DINE, check online at DisneyWorld.com, or even use the My Disney Experience app on your smartphone as often as possible to see if you find any newly-offered availability. Speaking from personal experience, persistence can pay off.

    2) Many of the restaurants around Walt Disney World tend to keep a few tables open each day for walk-up traffic. It's no guarantee, but it's worth being the first person in line to see if the cast members have the ability to sneak you in. Hopefully you're an early bird because I seem to recall seeing breakfast reservations at Chef Mickey's as early as 7:00 AM. For dinner at 'Ohana, I believe their first seatings start at 5:00 PM, so I'd plan to show up at 4:30 PM to wait in line.

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

The dinner at 'Ohana is truly an experience to savor. When I snag a dinner reservation there for my family, we don't schedule anything else after dinner that evening. That way, we don't feel rushed while we're eating and we can participate in all of the fun activities they have during the evening. If the night is still young after your dinner, and you have the energy to hit the theme parks, then that'll be the icing on the cake (or the caramel sauce on the bread pudding in the case of 'Ohana).

I hope that helps and I hope you're able to enjoy those dining experiences during your vacation.

    Bon Appetit!

    Best regards,
    Derek
