Having been many times, finally want to do a tour! Which one is a good first one? Thinking Keys to Kingdom? Does it go behind the scenes for any rides? Any tips for this one? I know no pictures allowed. Taking my 16-yo daughter too! Thanks!

    Hi Catherine,

Thanks for visiting Disney Parks Moms Panel.

As a Guest of Walt Disney World many times, you are — I'll guess — a Disney enthusiast enthralled with the magic and ready for that extra special experience. A tour is the perfect idea!

There are a number of Special Events & Tours available to Guests who want to immerse themselves even more in Walt Disney World. For our family, Disney's Keys to the Kingdom Tour was the ideal first tour.

We took the tour just last year. My wife and son and I loved the entire day. The whole theme for the tour, as I describe it, is an understanding and appreciation of what makes the Magic Kingdom the Magic Kingdom all gained by walking the story of the theme park. The Cast Member Tour Guides take excellent care of you and offer unique perspectives. As many times as I had walked those same spaces by myself as Guest, the Keys to the Kingdom Tour made it all feel new and more exciting.

I want to keep my comments here spoiler free, but I will share that, yes, we did go behind the scenes on 2 attractions — our tour featured Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise — and we also toured behind and below the scenes at other locals (shhh!).

As for tips, I'll start with the practical note to wear comfortable shoes and clothing. The tour makes for a long yet well paced day of walking. My other tip is simply this: immerse yourself in the magic! Your Cast Member Tour Guide will provide expert commentary and you'll be equipped with with listening devices. This helps ensure you hear about all the magic without the Tour Guide needing to shout. Engage, ask questions, and have fun!

    Enjoy your Disney!

The playful and creative optimism of all things Disney has enthralled me since I was a kid. I loved watching "The Wonderful World of Disney" on Sunday nights, seeing all the live-action and animated classics in theaters, and — of course — visiting "The Most Magical Place on Earth" for the first time 45 years ago. These days, the big kid in me still loves to play Disney. As a long-time Disney destinations vacationer, I'm looking forward to helping you play Disney starting here at planDisney!
