Hello Benoit,
Thanks for stopping by
planDisney with your question. Summer will be here before you know it, and so will your visit to
The World's Most Magical Celebration.
Adding
Disney's Genie+ to your tickets will open up a whole new world of possibilities when it comes to visiting Walt Disney World. You'll have access to special photo filters, be able to listen to unique stories about different areas throughout the parks, and of course, be able to make Lightning Lane selections to save yourself from waiting in line for over 40 different attractions.
When it comes to Genie+, there is no advantage that guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort have over guests staying elsewhere. Everyone can make their first Lightning Lane selection at 7:00 AM and a second selection can be made either 1)two hours after the park you are visiting opens for the day, or 2) after you have entered the Lightning Lane for your first selection.
Now, there is an advantage to staying at a Walt Disney World Resort when it comes to
Individual Lightning Lane purchases. There are a select couple of popular attractions at each park that are not included with Genie+. If you want to access the Lightning Lane for these, each guest pays a fee to be able to schedule a return time for the ride. Guests can only purchase Individual Lightning Lanes for 2 attractions per person, per day. Disney Resort Hotel guests can begin making their purchases at 7:00 AM, while other guests will need to wait until the park opens to make those purchases. For some attractions, like
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Individual Lightning Lanes sell out very quickly, and they may not be available by the time the park opens for the day.
As a Walt Disney World Resort Guest you will also be able to
enter the parks 30 minutes before the actual opening. That may not seem like a lot of time, but it can certainly allow you to hop in a standby line to one of the more popular attractions without having to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane or use up a Genie+ selection. There are also select evenings where guests staying at
Deluxe Resort Hotels can stay after park closing as well.
Hope this helps. Have fun planning your magical vacation!
